Natural responsibility – for you and our planet
We want to make a difference with products that neither harm your body nor the planet we live on. For us, sustainability has never been a buzzword – it is a fundamental part of how we think and work, from the choice of raw materials to how we package and deliver our products.
We believe that small, conscious choices make a big difference over time. Every product we create is a step toward a more sustainable beauty industry.
There is no room for unnecessary ingredients with us
We are exposed to chemicals and harmful substances every day, and our skin absorbs much of what we apply to it. This is the insight that laid the foundation for N.S.L Cosmetics. We see it as our mission to be transparent about what our products contain – and why. A conscious consumer sets demands, and that drives the entire industry forward.
Natural ingredients – with honesty as our foundation
We strive for the most natural formulations possible. Our products contain between 92–100% natural ingredients, depending on the product – we never promise more than we can deliver. We avoid unnecessary chemical thickeners, synthetic preservatives, and artificial fragrances. Instead, we use cold-pressed vegetable oils and essential oils that nourish and scent the skin on nature's own terms.
We do not use any animal ingredients that harm the animal. However, ingredients such as keratin – extracted from wool grease – do appear in some of our products, a process in which the sheep is not harmed. Not all of our products are vegan, and this is something we always communicate openly in the ingredient list.
We plant trees – one per order
For every order we receive, a tree is planted through our partner Ecologi – in reforestation projects around the world that restore ecosystems and support local communities.
What is reforestation? Reforestation is about restoring land areas that have been damaged by deforestation. The projects that Ecologi supports plant native trees and work long-term with local populations for sustainable land use. This contributes to biodiversity, more stable soil, and a cooler climate.
Recycle your empty packaging
All our packaging is made from recyclable materials – PP, PE, and HDPE plastic as well as glass. Please dispose of them in the appropriate recycling bins once they are empty.
Glass is particularly good to recycle – it can be melted down and reused indefinitely without any loss in quality, using significantly less energy than manufacturing new glass.
We are a small, growing company, and we work continuously to reduce our environmental impact as our operations develop.
Eco-friendly shipping materials
We pack all orders in cardboard and corrugated fiberboard made from a high proportion of recycled material. We use wrapping paper and paper tape instead of plastic-based alternatives – so that the entire package can be recycled once opened.
Minimal energy consumption
Since we manufacture on a small scale using handmade methods, our energy consumption is minimal. We do not use any industrial machines – most of the work is done by hand, which means each product is made with a fraction of the energy required in large-scale production.
We source as locally as possible
We prioritize Swedish suppliers for raw materials, packaging, and shipping materials whenever possible. Sometimes what we need is not available in Sweden, in which case we turn primarily to our neighboring countries. Only a few ingredients are sourced from further away – and these are items that simply cannot be obtained any closer.
Environmental responsibility in every detail
We strive to take responsibility in every part of our operations – large and small. Here are some concrete examples of how we work:
- Our shipments are completely plastic-free and sent with Nordic Swan Ecolabelled shipping
- In the laboratory, we use biodegradable pipettes – our only single-use plastic
- We consume minimal electricity thanks to handmade production without industrial machinery
- With every order, a tree is planted via Ecologi
