DIY Vitamin C Face Serum – For Glow and Even Skin Tone

Vitamin C is one of the most popular active ingredients in skincare, known for its antioxidant properties and ability to give the skin a healthy glow. In this blog post, we will create a natural and effective face serum with vitamin C!

Why use vitamin C in skin care?

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid/Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate) helps to:

  • Even out skin tone and reduce pigmentation spots

  • Protect skin from free radicals and environmental factors

  • Stimulate collagen production and improve skin elasticity

  • Give the skin a fresh and natural glow

DIY Recipe: Vitamin C Facial Serum

Approx: 50 grams

Ingredients:

  • 1 g Sodium ascorbyl phosphate (stable vitamin C)

  • 45.7 g distilled water or rose water

  • 2 g glycerin (for moisturizing effect)

  • 0.5 g vitamin E oil (for extra antioxidant effect)

  • 3 - 5 drops essential or fragrance oil (optional)
  • 0.5 g Geogard 221 (natural preservative)

Step-by-step guide

  1. Sterilize your utensils : Disinfect all containers and utensils with 70% alcohol to avoid bacterial growth.

  2. Dissolve the vitamin C : Stir the Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate into the distilled water until it is completely dissolved.

  3. Add glycerin : Mix well to stabilize the formula and increase the shelf life of the serum.

  4. Mix in vitamin E and optional fragrance : This helps protect the skin and enhance the serum's antioxidant properties.

  5. Add preservative : Geogard 221 extends the shelf life of the serum and prevents bacterial growth.

  6. Pour into a dark glass bottle : Vitamin C is light sensitive, so a dark bottle helps protect it from degradation.

  7. Storage : The serum will last for about 2 weeks in the refrigerator without preservation. With the preservative Geogard 221, the serum can be stored at room temperature and will last for about 8 months.

Use

Apply a few drops to cleansed skin in the morning and follow with a moisturizer and sunscreen. Vitamin C works best when used daily!
