Naturligt Läppbalsam - Basrecept

Natural Lip Balm - Basic recipe

50 grams = approx: 10 lip balms

Ingredients:

  • 31 g Oil (Example, Almond oil, Olive oil, Rapeseed oil, Sunflower oil, etc.)
  • 12.5 g beeswax
  • 1.5 g of coconut oil
  • 4 g of shea butter
  • 10 drops of essential oil (optional, for fragrance) (1 drop weighs approx: 0.03 g)
  • 1 g of Vitamin E oil

Equipment:

  • A small saucepan or a double boiler
  • A kitchen scale (preferably with 0.01 g accuracy)
  • A heat-resistant container (preferably a beaker with a spout for easy pouring into the sleeves)
  • A metal spoon or spatula
  • Empty cerat sleeves or small jars
  • Pipette (optional, to measure small amounts of oil)

Don't have a scale? No problem. Use a measurement converter. Search on Google, for example, and look up how much a tablespoon, teaspoon and a spice measure weigh, and you can easily convert the recipe.

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:

    • Make sure your cerat sleeves or jars are clean and dry. If using recycled containers, sterilize them by boiling them in water or spraying them with alcohol and allow them to air dry.
  2. Melt the ingredients:

    • Weigh out all ingredients except essential oil and vitamin-e oil in a heat-resistant container
    • Use a double boiler or place the heatproof container in a pan of simmering water.
    • Stir until everything is melted and well mixed. Remove from heat.
  3. Add vitamin-e oil and essential oil:

    • Drop in vitamin-e oil and the essential oil and stir. Be careful with the amount of essential oil, as too much can be irritating to the skin.
  4. Fill your containers:

    • Carefully pour the melted mixture into your cerat sleeves or small jars.
    • Work quickly as the mixture begins to solidify as it cools.
  5. Let cool:

    • Place the lip balm in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
    • Allow the lip balm to come to room temperature before putting the lids on your cases or jars.
  6. Store and use:

    • Store your homemade lip balm in a cool, dry place. It should last for several months.
    • Apply to your lips as needed to keep them soft and moisturized.

This simple recipe can be adapted to your liking. You can experiment with different oils and butters or add natural dyes (like beetroot powder) to give your lip balm a light color.

It would be great fun to see and hear how your lip balms went. Feel free to share pictures and your experiences in the comment field.
